Bodies Of Two Men Found Dumped At Kansas Cemetery

Kansas police are investigating the deaths of two men whose bodies were found dumped at a cemetery early Thursday morning.

The bodies were found fully clothed on a dirt road at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City at around 6:30 a.m., KCTV reported. Both victims suffered gunshot wounds, but police said no weapons were recovered near the scene and it does not appear to be a murder-suicide.

For now, police are treating their deaths as a double-homicide.

Witnesses passing through the cemetery Thursday morning saw the bodies and called 911. Police arrived to find the victims on opposite sides of an unused dirt road near 12th Street and Cemetery Drive.

After six hours of searching the area, police were still unable to tell if the men were killed at the cemetery or if they were dumped there overnight, WDAF-TV reported.

But one man said he might have witnessed part of the murders while driving down the road with his family at 12:30 a.m.

"We noticed that there was a burgundy pickup truck and two adults standing in front of a truck," the man, who wished to remain anonymous, told KCTV. "The lights were on and we saw something lying on the ground, but we didn't know what it was so we kept going. It was dark, so we didn't stop."

The victims have yet to be identified. However, one woman showed up at the crime scene saying that her son had been walking in the area the previous night but did not come home, KCTV reported.

Another nearby resident, who also wished to remain anonymous, said she was spooked by the murders in a city that has reportedly seen an increase in crime.

"People kill people. Even if they think you know something, they will kill you," she told WDAF-TV.
