WebMD's "Healthy Target" iPhone mobile app helps individuals monitor and take care of reccurring conditions, the online medical publication announced Monday.
According to a press release, the integrated health improvement program monitors serious illnesses such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. The software also enables others to accomplish exercise goals and live healthier lives. This capability uses Entra, Fitbit, and UP electronic exercise devices. The gadgets can convert a person's numbers of steps, sleep, weight, and blood gluclose levels into readable form for patients. The iPhone 5 lets users tally the steps they take on the mobile device. The patient can enter the information in the app on his or her device.
WebMD's chief medical editor said the program gives clients inspiration to improve their health.
"WebMD's Healthy Target empowers consumers to make behavioral changes that can improve their physical and mental health," Dr. Michael Smith said. "To achieve successful, sustainable behavioral change, consumers must learn how to track and manage the factors that contribute to healthy living."
WebMD's director of product management said the app is not hard to use.
"Consumers will appreciate the ease of incorporating their biometric data into our Healthy Target program and the health insights and recommendations offered to help them sustain a healthier life," David Ziegler said. "With more than 40% of consumers using mobile devices to access health information, the time is right for a mobile app that can help translate data into life-improving insights."
Healthy Target's goal setting allows users to set aims for losing weight, eating healthier, being more active, controlling blooding sugar, and sleeping more effectively, the press release reported. Users then receive recommendations on how they can achieve their exercise aspirations. People can modify goals at any point.
