Black Bear Takes Break Relaxing In Hammock (PHOTOS)

Who says animals can't appreciate the finer things in life.

A black bear in a Daytona Beach, Florida neighborhood was caught on camera lounging in a hammock near Glenbriar Circle on Thursday. The bear climbed into the hammock and lolled around for about 20 minutes, but not before it went on a rampage and knocked over several trash cans in the Pebble Creek neighborhood, WESH-TV reported.

Rafael Torres, the photographer who captured the bear, said it went back into the woods at around 8:15 p.m. The bear also didn't appear bothered by Torres, who remained 60 feet away. Torres said out of all the animals he has seen near the hammock, this was the first time a black bear appeared.

"He got in the hammock like he was a tourist or something," Vincent James, owner of the hammock and home, told the station. "Then something spooked him and he ran right back there. Then half an hour later I came back and I saw there he is in the hammock again."

Before taking a break in the hammock, the bear was seen knocking over trash cans in search of food. Residents of Pebble Creek also saw the bear snooping through bird feeders, WESH-TV reported.

The bear has reportedly been lurking around the neighborhood since Wednesday.

Another recent encounter with a black bear had a more violent outcome. A Seminole County woman was attacked by a black bear in her garage, which then "dragged her from inside the garage out into her driveway," county police told CNN.

The woman was able to escape and was treated at a nearby hospital for scrapes and cuts.

Earlier this year, an 81-year-old woman was arrested after ignoring repeated warnings to stop feeding black bears that kept showing up at her home in Sebring.

Wildlife officials warn people not to feed black bears because they will keep coming back, CNN reported.
