Microsoft is set to unveil the new Xbox console tomorrow at its campus in Redmond, Wash. However, the company’s Interactive Entertainment Chief of Staff Aaron Greenberg, said the company will reveal the console in two stages, according to NBC News.
On Friday’s Major Nelson podcast, Greenberg said Microsoft will begin “laying the foundation” at tomorrow’s reveal and the second stage will be at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, on June 10.
"We have so much goodness that there's no way we could have packed it all into one event," said Greenberg. "The best way I can describe it is: We're really going to tell one story across two events," he added. "So we're going to start on the 21st [of May]; and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform and our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment."
Greenberg added Microsoft “definitely” has “a lot of surprises planned” for the reveal in Washington. Also, “people are going to get a great inside look at the making of the new platform and the team that brought it to life."
Many analysts were worried since Microsoft took a while to reveal the console. In November 2005, Microsoft revealed the XBOX 360—a whole year before the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3. So, the fact Microsoft took so long and is unveiling the console after Sony, caused a bit of concern.
Greenberg said the company has “a lot to share” within the two stages. Hopefully the first one includes a full-console display, unlike what Sony did in February.
Earlier this month, the name of the new console was unofficially confirmed as "Infinity." Microsoft did not comment what it called "speculations."
