In February Sony unveiled its new PlayStation 4 in New York, without actually revealing much of anything. The company announced it would reveal the full console at the E3 press conference on June 10, according to NBC News. However, today Sony released a PlayStation 4 teaser video on YouTube.
The video, which is only 39 seconds, begins with a small black box—what is assumed to be the PlayStation 4—that is very blurry and very far away. As the video proceeds, the camera begins to zoom in closer and closer. However, as the camera zooms the box continues to be blurry and stays that way throughout the whole teaser.
As you get nearer to the box, various features of the PlayStation 4 flash onto the screen. The flashes increase and become quicker as the video progresses. You aren’t really able to see the features—like the new DualShock Controller and the Full PS4 logo—because the camera is extremely close.
This new video is most likely an attempt to keep up with the launch on Tuesday of Microsoft’s next Xbox.
The new Xbox was previously being called the Xbox 720—logically named for its succession of the Xbox 360. However, sources confirmed in early May the console will be named “Infinity”, according to the IBTimes UK. Also a photo was leaked on Reddit with the word “XBOX” in big letters and the symbol for infinity located above the letters’ top right hand corner.
Microsoft did make a statement on the news at the time saying the company “doesn’t comment on rumors or speculations.”
