Four people were found dead in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide at a California home, according to USA TODAY.
Investigators discovered the bodies of two men and two women on Tuesday, Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said. By a late afternoon press briefing, Hallock said officials determined that one of the victims had killed the entire group before committing suicide.
Hallock added that authorities "do not believe there is a threat to the public."
The home is located in Mission Viejo, about 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
The names, ages, or relationships of the victims have not been released.
Earlier in May, a possible murder-suicide left another four people dead in southern California.
The bodies of two males and two females were discovered by Pomona officers after concerned relatives called authorities.
According to The Associated Press, a 28-year-old man fatally shot a woman in her 50s, her 25-year-old daughter, and 17-year-old son before turning the gun on himself.
Each victim was found in their respective bedroom and police discovered no signs of a struggle. Officials told the Daily News that homicide detectives are treating the case as a possible murder-suicide.
Pomona, located about 30 miles east of Los Angeles, has a population of around 150,000 people.
One week earlier, two adults and two children were found shot in an alleged murder-suicide attempt in Texas.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office announced both parents died and two children were injured.
