Carly Rousso Case: Teen Begins Trial For Car Crash That Killed 5-Year-Old Girl

A Chicago woman began trial on Tuesday for allegedly "huffing" a cleaning product before crashing her car that left a 5-year-old girl dead, according to ABC News.

The trial of Carly Rousso, 19, began at 9 a.m. in Lake County Courthouse nearly two years after the fatal accident.

In September 2012, Rousso lost control of her car and crashed into a woman and her three young children as they walked on the sidewalk. Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, 5, was killed in the wreck.

Rousso was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated drunken driving after investigators alleged she inhaled computer cleaning dust before getting behind the wheel.

The teen's trial has been postponed more than six times in the past year as her attorneys and prosecutors tried to meet a plea deal -- without success.

While she pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, she still faces a trial for the second charge which would bring more serious penalties.

Rousso is currently free on $500,000 bond, ABC News reported. If convicted, she faces 14 years in prison.
