'World's Luckiest Man' Upset Over Animator's Cartoon Of His Accidents

The "world's luckiest man," who won the lottery after cheating death seven times, is unhappy at the way a cartoon artist portrayed him in a three-minute YouTube video, the BBC reported.

Frano Selak, a music teacher from Croatia, has been in the news over the last few years for his multiple near-death experiences, which began in 1957 when the bus he was on fell into a river. Then his train derailed and he was again tossed into a river.

Next, the car he was in exploded followed by yet another car explosion. Selak survived those accidents, as well as a plane crash where he landed on a haystack and a car accident where he drove off a cliff and landed in a tree, according to his previous interviews, the BBC reported.

On top of that, Selak survived being hit by a bus. He then won a $1 million lottery and shared the winnings with his friends and family.

Intrigued by Selak's life, New York-based animator David Ransom decided to feature him and his accidents in a cartoon titled "the luckiest unlucky man to ever live." The video has received over 1 million views since it was posted May 1.

However, according to the Croatian paper Jutarnji List, Selak does not like the way he was drawn or the way Ransom portrayed his life.

"The Americans have no idea," Selak told the paper, according to the BBC. "They drew a moustache on me and mixed up all my accidents. Maybe they will earn big money, while I live on a pension. At least send me a thousand dollars."

According to the newspaper, Selak might seek legal action against Ransom.

Ransom said he hopes Selak, who is reportedly in his 80s, doesn't try to sue him.

"I am very sorry that he was upset by his depiction," Ransom, founder of This & That Visuals, told the BBC. "If he would like to set the record straight I would be more than happy to amend the video to more accurately represent his image, and add or remove any details he wants."
