Channing Tatum is officially in talks to take on the role of Gambit, "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donne confirmed.

During an interview to Total Film, Donne revealed the actor Marvel is interested in signing on for the role is Tatum, dishing why the "22 Jump Street" actor is perfect to play the character.

"He's a rogue, Channing," Donne explained. "He's a rascal just like Remy LeBeau. He can handle the action we all know that. He's got a really good heart...I think he'll be great for Gambit."

Though Donne has confirmed Tatum is being eyed for the role, Fox has yet to confirm a Gambit solo film or his official appearance in the "X-Men" series.

Tatum has previously expressed interest in a "Gambit" solo film. The actor originally dished about his love for the mutant back in 2013 during a press conference promoting his film "White House Down."

"I would like to play Gambit. Gambit's my favourite. I'm from New Orleans, around that area. My dad's from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real," Tatum explained.

"No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, 'cause I actually like his Gambit, but I've always lived around Cajun people," the actor added. "Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief. He kind of rode the line."

Tatum reiterated his love for Gambit during an interview with film magazine Empire back in January.

"I'm dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum," Donner told Empire. "That doesn't have to be a great big movie. It's a thief in New Orleans, it's a whole different story. He's on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He's such a sweetheart."
