LeBron James Joins Method Man in Judd Apatow Comedy ‘Trainwreck’

Miami Heat star LeBron James is making a transition into Hollywood. The 29-year-old NBA forward has just signed on for a Judd Apatow comedy called "Trainwreck," Deadline reports.

The director confirmed the news on Twitter, writing, "Lebron James has joined the cast of my next film Trainwreck written by and starring @amyschumer. Welcome @KingJames."

Apatow also welcomed James in a video message he posted on Facebook.

"We're so glad that you are joining the cast of my next film 'Trainwreck' and now the world will finally get to see what your true gifts are, so welcome aboard," he said in a video.

James will be joining Amy Schumer, Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, ex-wrestler John Cena and "Captain Phillips" actor Barkhad Abdi, according to reports. Rapper Method Man is also a part of the cast.

A plot for "Trainwreck" has not been revealed but the film is expected to hit theaters July 24, 2015. James also two other Hollywood projects lined up. The four-time MVP is set to star opposite Kevin Hart in the comedy "Ballers."

According to Deadline, Hart will play a man who lives in the shadows of his NBA brother (played by James), but gets a big break when he and some friends attend a weekend fantasy basketball camp in Miami.

The athlete is said to be in talks for a biopic about his life as a young basketball player on his Ohio high school team. Back in February, Deadline also reported that James could star in a sequel to "Space Jam."

Basketball legend Michael Jordan starred in the 1996 original with appearances by other NBA players including Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Danny Ainge, Tyron "Muggsy" Bogues, Vlade Divac, Cedric Ceballos, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley and Paul West.
