Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Calls Rehab 'Amazing,' Plans On Coming Back

Despite being set back by addiction, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford plans on making a full comeback by October.

"I will be on the ballot for mayor in October, guaranteed, and I will do well," Ford told The Toronto Sun. "On Oct. 28, there will be no need to change the locks. There will be no need to clean out my office because I am coming back."

Ford, currently on a leave of absence and staying at a rehab center for crack cocaine use, said he is "going to kick butt." However, he did not disclose if the center was in the U.S. or Canada.

"I asked for my calls sheets and I am making calls to constituents," he said. "I am getting help, but I still want to help."

He also told the Sun that rehab is kind of like camp.

"I feel great," he said. "Rehab is amazing. It reminds me of football camp. Kind of like the Washington Redskins camp I went to as a kid," Ford said.

The embattled mayor said his wake-up call came on April 29 after learning that a video surfaced of him drunkenly ranting at a pub. He told his brother, Toronto City Councilor Doug Ford, "That's it."

There is no set date for when Ford will return, according to the Sun.

Ford said he takes responsibility for the wrongs he committed in the past.

"I think alcohol is the worst drug of all. It makes you do things that you would never do or say things that you wouldn't," he said. "At first, I was mad. I was mad at myself and saying, ‘Why me?' But then I realized it could have been a whole lot worse."
