Sarah Silverman is joining the cast of Showtime's drama "Masters of Sex" for Season two, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedian, who received an Emmy nomination for her Comedy Central show "The Sarah Silverman Program," will have a recurring role as Helen, a palm reader and the former romantic interest of Betty, a closeted lesbian played by Annaleigh Ashford.

The drama series stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. The show follows the main characters as they go from doing research in a Missouri hospital to appearing on the cover of TIME magazine.

Silverman joins a cast that includes Caitlin FitzGerald, Teddy Sears, Helene Yorke, Beau Bridges and Allison Janney. The actress also joins "American Horror Story" actor Danny Huston, who has the recurring role of Dr. Douglas Greathouse, the privileged head of a hospital's Obstetrics Department.

"Masters of Sex" is based on the true story of real-life pioneers of human sexuality. It's also an adaptation of Thomas Maier's book "Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love".

Production for the series is currently underway in Los Angeles. The premiere for season two is expected to air on July 13.

Silverman will next be seen starring in Seth MacFarlane's upcoming film, "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and the drama "I Smile Back" set to release in 2015.
