Several stars within the adult film industry are claiming Chase bank has launched a personal assault by closing their accounts without notice.
The group of porn stars, including Veronica Avluv from "Cougarland" and Layton Benton, say Chase sent them letters of notice that their accounts would be terminated, the New York Daily News reported. The bank gave no clear reason for the sudden closures, causing outrage among the porn stars and a call for legal action.
"I'm just upset and still in shock it's even happening," Penthouse Pet Teagan Presley, who received a letter from Chase on April 16, told the Daily News. "I'm not doing anything illegal."
Chase is also closing her husband's personal account and the couple's two business accounts. No initial reason for the termination was given, but upon further investigation the couple was told it was because of Presley's line of work.
"I've heard three different reasons," Joshua Lehman, Presley's husband, told the newspaper. "When I went into our branch, they said it was the nature of our business. When I called, they said they were closing my personal account because my wife is an 'infamous' adult star.
The bank then gave Lehman an entirely different reason when he talked to his branch again.
"They said it wasn't because we were in the adult industry but because we did business with a convicted felon," Lehman told the newspaper.
The couple along with the other porn stars have contacted lawyer Michael Fattorosi, who represents the industry, to see if there is cause for legal action. Chase did not offer a comment on the accusations, the Daily News reported.
"We're waiting to see, but I honestly doubt we can do anything" Lehman told the newspaper. "It's not fair. We're a family with kids. We don't do anything bad."
Presley and her husband plan to conduct their future banking with Wells Fargo.
