New York Police Find Body Shoved into Container, Arrest Suspect in Brooklyn

New York City police have taken a suspect into custody they believe might be linked to a body found shoved into a container.

24-year-old Joshua Simser has been charged with second degree murder in alleged connection to a dead body found in Brooklyn this weekend.

Law enforcement officials found the unidentified remains stuffed into a large, black plastic storage box inside a house in the Flatlands neighborhood of the New York City borough. Investigators told the Associated Press that the body was discovered at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Detectives were first called to the home after the owner of a Brooklyn nightclub called NYPD officials. The man, whose identity hasn't been released, told police that one of his employees had admitted to killing someone.

A neighbor told New York 1 that almost 40 authorities came looking for Simser on Saturday at the two-family home, located on 1561 East 45th Street.

"About 38," the neighbor said, in reference to how many officials were on the scene. "Somebody was stabbed and the guy that was stabbed doesn't live in the house. So, you know, it could've been robbery or something. I just live on the block, so I'm concerned."

Another neighbor described Simser as non-violent.

"Had a seven-year-old kid," the resident said. "Great guy."

The coroner has not yet released the cause of death, pending an autopsy. It's still unclear whether there were signs of trauma on the body.

Emergency response teams did say the the victim was dead on arrival.
