Vin Diesel accepted the 2014 MTV Movie Award for best on-screen duo with the late Paul Walker.

Diesel shared his acceptance video with his more than 70 million Facebook fans. An emotional Diesel reminisced about the first time the MTV viewers acknowledged the franchise.

"Back in 2002, it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul Walker and myself by honoring us with the best team on film," Diesel said during his acceptance video. "So it's surreal to be standing here 12 years later and that you have been so generous to give us this award again."

"I know he's here in spirit," Diesel said, visibly choking back his tears. "Thank you for honoring me and, more importantly, thank you for honoring that angel - my brother Paul Walker." (Click here to watch the video)

Diesel couldn't attend the 2014 MTV Movie Awards as he is currently on location wrapping up production for the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7." Walker was reportedly halfway through filming his scenes, but the studio has yet to confirm how the late actor's actor will be handled in the movie.

MTV President Stephen Friedman confirmed to the Los Angeles Times the awards show would be airing a tribute to the actor with the help of Walker's onscreen love, actress Jordana Brewster. Friedmen explained to the publication the impact Walker had on MTV's audience.

"Paul Walker was a role model for the MTV audience since the very beginning of his too-short career. Our audience grew up with him, from 'Varsity Blues' to the 'Furious' franchise," Friedman told the LA Times about the tribute. "He was a movie star but one that they could relate to."

"Paul's humanity and kindness clearly showed through every role," he added. "We're honored to be able to spend a moment in this year's Movie Awards to celebrate him."
