20 additional aggravated assault charges have been filed against Rashad Owens, who has been accused of crashing a stolen vehicle through a crowd at Austin's South by Southwest festival, leading to the deaths of four concertgoers.
The added charges come just five days after the fourth victim of the collision died.
Two motorcyclists were pronounced deceased at the scene, while two others later died in medical facilities.
According to the Los Angeles Times, 21-year-old Owens, whose blood-alcohol level was reportedly .03 above the legal limit at the time of the event, has already been charged with two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle. If he's found guilty, Owens could face the death penalty.
Owens will make another court appearance on April 9, the Times reported.
Police reportedly caught Owens after they chased him down on foot and tasered him. Texas police said Owens, who was reportedly inebriated and driving a stolen vehicle, burst through barriers erected for SXSW at Red River and 9th Street, and didn't stop when officials told him to pull over.
Most of the victims, some of whom sustained numerous internal wounds, are in their early 20s, medical director at the University Medical Center Brackenridge Dr. Christopher Ziebell told CNN.
Those killed were 27-year-old Jamie West, 35-year-old Steven Craenmehr, Sandy Thuy Le, 26, and DeAndre Tatum, 18.
An eyewitness at the festival named Pablo Vasquenz told New Day that the car, a gray 2012 Honda Civic, just missed him.
"I was less than a foot away," he said. "I saw some folks die."
Another bystander named Russ Barone told CNN reporters that the horrifying event seemed like "something out of a movie."
"A few people lying on the street...with their friends around them trying to get them up, trying to get them back to life," he recounted.
