Microsoft's New Console Named Xbox Infinity

Microsoft's new gaming console will be called Infinity, according to sources involved in the manufacturing of the Xbox, the IBTimes UK reported.

Leaked images advertising Xbox Infinity were recently posted on Reddit. Prior to this, the Xbox was being called Xbox 720, as it was the successor to Xbox 360. It was also referred to as Durango, its alleged development codename.

Now, sources have confirmed that the console has been named Infinity and development kits have already been handed over to studios. Microsoft hasn't commented on the news saying it "doesn't comment on rumors or speculations."

In March, Vgleaks posted a number of screenshots that showed different information that is found on the Xbox development kit, one of which was that it requires users to install all the games they want to play on the console's hard drive.

All these speculations will be put to rest soon as Microsoft has already confirmed that the new Xbox will be released May 21. Invites have already been sent out to the media.

"On that day," Xbox programming director Hryb wrote, "we'll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19 days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we'll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games."
