Guard-forward Talen Horton-Tucker, a 2020 NBA champion, is on the brink of signing with Turkish giant Fenerbahçe.
Picked at 46th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, Horton-Tucker established a consistent career in the league. Now, rumors say that he is considering playing in Europe if no NBA team picks him.
Horton-Tucker's NBA Journey So Far
According to Hoops Rumors, Horton-Tucker started his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped win an NBA championship as a rookie in 2020. He played three seasons for the Lakers before being traded to the Utah Jazz in 2022. In two years in Utah, he failed to get guaranteed minutes consistently and eventually became a free agent without securing a guaranteed contract.
In September 2024, his hometown team, the Bulls, signed Chicago native Isaiah Moore to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract. Going against expectations, he not only made the regular-season roster but also received a standard contract, the lone player on an Exhibit 10 to achieve that feat in that season. By January, the Bulls guaranteed Moore's contract in return for his determination and resilience.
Strong Showing With the Bulls
In the 2024-25 season, Horton-Tucker appeared in 58 off the bench, averaging 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in only 12.5 minutes per game. His efficiency increased as well, shooting 45.7% overall, 33.6% from three-point range, and 73.5% from the free-throw line.
In 305 career games, he has averaged 9.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while offering glimpses of versatility.
For Horton-Tucker, it was a "dream come true" to play for the Bulls. Yet even with his solid play, stability in the league remains unclear.
Fenerbahce Move on the Horizon
It is reported that Horton-Tucker has agreed with Fenerbahce, last season's EuroLeague champions, although the deal is not final. According to Basket News, the six-year NBA veteran is reportedly waiting for another chance in the NBA before fully committing to Europe. Within days, he is due to make a final decision.
Fenerbahce has established itself as one of the best destinations in Europe for basketball, frequently poaching former NBA players. Their roster now features former NBA guard Brandon Boston Jr., who played one season with the New Orleans Pelicans. Horton-Tucker, if he signs, would provide depth, experience, and scoring punch to an already stout roster.
