Los Angeles Police Arrest Man Who Posted '100 Retweets and I'll Shoot' on Twitter (TWEETS)

Police have arrested a California man who threatened to shoot passerby on a Los Angeles street if he gained 100 retweets on Twitter.

Dakkari Dijon McAnuff is currently facing charges of making criminal threats, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times. The 20-year-old is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.

McAnuff was arrested on Wednesday, after law enforcement officials in LA received word that he'd reportedly posted a tweet depicting what appeared to be a rifle pointing out of a window, aimed toward the street below.

"100 retweets and I'll shoot someone walking," the caption on the photo read.

Although some have claimed McAnuff's tweet was merely a misguided prank, law enforcement officials are treating the post as a criminal threat.

The Los Angeles Police Department managed to trace McAnuff to the Twitter account, which has been removed since. They found the 20-year-old Downtown resident's address to be in the 700 block of 9th Street, the LA Times reported.

Police later announced their initial investigation revealed the weapon was an air rifle, and McAnuff did not actually fire on any passerby.

Metro reported on Friday that a new Twitter account reportedly representing McAnuff posted the tweet, "Why they didn't way was it was CLEARLY A PRANK!... #Free DMC."
