Mariah Carey released the first single from her upcoming album. "#Beautiful," a track featuring R&B artist Miguel, was posted Monday on Carey's website.
The tune, a smooth blend of R&B and pop, is already winning fans over. In just one day, the single climbed to fourth-place in iTune's Top Singles category.
The track is a teaser for Carey's much-anticipated 14th studio album. The untitled album has been in the works for over three years and, after getting pushed back multiple times, is expected to be released sometime this summer. The official date is unknown.
"It's about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that's the most important thing," Carey told Billboard in March.
She's working with a team of talented producers, including Jermaine Dupri and The-Dream. While Carey has been tight-lipped about the specifics of her album, she conceded that there are "a lot more raw ballads than people might expect."
"Wherever we go with this project, I've tried to keep the soul and heart in it," she added.
Her last non-holiday studio album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," debuted in 2009 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Carey recently released the track "Almost Home" in February for the Disney film "Oz the Great and Powerful."
Between her gig as an "American Idol" judge, her work on the album and the responsibilities that come with having two kids, Carey is keeping busy and sees no end in sight.
"I could say, 'Let's stop now.' But that's not who I am."
Carey has sold more than 200 million records in the span of her 20-plus year career. Her upcoming album could push those numbers even higher.
