Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be part of the fifth edition of the Mission Impossible series and will once again be playing agent Ethan Grant, EW.com reports.
No "Mission Impossible" film is complete without Cruise. Fans were a little disappointed when rumors about the actor not being a part of the fifth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise started circulating.
However, according to recent reports, Cruise will be playing the legendary role in the fifth movie. Deadline.com reports that the actor has already signed a deal with Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions to be a part of the film.
Cruise will reportedly team up with Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher MCQuarrie. Cruise had earlier worked along with him for "Jack Reacher" and was also the screenwriter for "Valkyrie"
The fourth edition in the "Mission Impossible" series titled "Ghost Protocol" that was released in 2011 earned more than $600 million at the international box office. At the time, Cruise had said that he was excited about working in the next installment of the franchise and had already started dreaming up the film.
"I'll make as many as people want to see, because they're very challenging and so much fun to make. We're already working on different images (and) talking conceptually," Cruise said.
Cruise produced the first "Mission Impossible" film in 1996 that was directed by Brian De Palma and was based on the television series of the same name.
