Facebook has redesigned its site that focus more on its visual aspects. Its updated interface includes new font styles and more displayed photos in the news feed.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg already mentioned about the makeover plan of its news feed a year ago by giving it a "personalized newspaper" feel, which would highlight stories that deserved to be emphasized. The proposed news feed features include bigger images, multiple feeds, and mobile consistency.
However, the designs are far different from the proposed changes mentioned above, except for a few users' profiles, Mashable reported.
Greg Marra, Facebook's news feed product manager told re/code, "Over the last year, we've spent a lot of time seeing what people were saying, what was working, what wasn't working, and we're rolling out the version that takes all of that feedback into account. Some parts weren't working and were just getting in the way for people."
Aside from the new font styles and news feed look, the redesign also brought minor changes. These include larger buttons to the "people you may know" section in the right side of the page and a tiny improvement in the design of the icons on the "update status" and "add photos/videos tabs on the upper part of the "publisher box."
The new look will not change the way on how stories or ads are displayed as images of both will just be the same, even in Facebook's mobile platform.
"We want to be clear that this update does not affect ad specs, ads performance or optimization," said a spokesperson for Facebook to Mashable. "These changes are visual updates and do not affect how content is surfaced to people, nor do they change how stories are ranked in news Feed."
Facebook users will see the new design in a matter of few weeks.
