On a bustling evening at Singapore Sports Hub, two men were charged with cheating for sneaking three people into a Taylor Swift concert without tickets.

The authorities said that Yang Chenguang and Li Xiao Wei allegedly distracted security staff by talking to them.

Singapore Charged Duo

The incident happened last Monday, the third of Swift's six completely booked shows in the Southeast Asian city-state. Tickets to the show are in high demand since Swift's Eras Tour only stops in Singapore.

The dates were completely sold out months before, and desperate fans from as far away as China turned to resellers to buy tickets. Swift performed in Australia and Japan before going to Singapore.

Singapore has some of the strictest laws in the world, and anyone found guilty of cheating faces a maximum three-year prison sentence.

In a statement on Tuesday, Singapore police stated that a third man who was detained alongside Yang and Li is under investigation and has not yet been charged.

Chinese influencer Yang Junhao is among the men the group sneaked into the concert. Yang said he mistakenly bought fake tickets.

Yang said in a video on Douyin, China's version of TikTok, that he looked dejected after being told that he bought a fake ticket and to be interrogated by the police. He pleaded with the police to let him stay outside the venue to hear Swift's voice.

He wrote in a comment posted on Wednesday night that he spent $1,700 on the ticket and did not know it was fake even after he entered the concert. He claimed that he only realized it after the officers brought them out.

Furthermore, he said he was just a victim and is now stuck in Singapore and assisting in the investigation.

Swift's concerts were held at the Singapore Sports Hub, and security staff reported detaining multiple individuals who attempted to trespass into the venue on Monday.

The concert organizers said they would work with the police to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Singapore arranged to stage the show with Swift's concert organizers for South East Asian fans. This has resulted in tension between Thailand, the Philippines, and other neighbors.

Swift has three more shows in Singapore before her tour in the region ends.
