'Gravity' Wins Big At The Oscars 2014, '12 Years A Slave' Bags Best Movie Award (WINNERS LIST)

"Gravity" won big at the 2014 Oscars, taking home seven awards for the night, Sunday. "12 Years A Slave" bagged the biggest award of the night after winning the Best Movie. Check out the full winners list below.

While "12 Years of Slave" took home the biggest award of the night for Best Movie, "Gravity" dominated the number count bagging seven Oscars at the 86th annual Academy Awards Sunday night.

Matthew McConaughey took home the best actor award for his stellar performance in "Dallas Buyers Club." Cate Blanchett proved the punters right by winning the Best Actress for "Blue Jasmine."

Going into the event the Best Picture race was tight as any in recent memory. "Gravity," "12 Years a Slave" and "American Hustle", all had Oscar-watchers guessing which would come out on top at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

All three films have bagged some major awards of the year. While "Gravity" won a British Academy Award, "12 Years a Slave" and "American Hustle" took home Best Drama and Best Comedy at the Golden Globes, respectively. "Hustle" and "Gravity" went into the night with the most nominations - 10 each, followed by "Slave" with nine.

Jared Leto won Best Supporting Actor for "Dallas Buyer's Club" and Lupita Nyong'o won Best Supporting Actress for "12 Years a Slave."

"To all the dreamers out there watching this tonight in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, as you struggle to make your dreams happen, and live the impossible, we're thinking of you tonight," said Leto, on receiving his award.

The performances lent a musical beat to the evening. Bono and U2 performed an acoustic version of "Ordinary Love," their Oscar-nominated song from "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." The song was reportedly penned as a tribute to the late South African leader Nelson Mandela. Pharrell Williams performed his single "Happy" from "Despicable Me 2" and had Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio dancing in the aisles. Pink was cheered for her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," part of a 75th anniversary tribute to "The Wizard of Oz."

This year's Oscars were special for another reason. The show as always been accused of being "stuffy" and "boring" but things can never be dull with show host Ellen DeGeneres around. A selfie taken by DeGeneres at the event broke the record for most retweets with 2.7 million in less than three hour.
