Bangladesh lost their opening match on Wednesday to India by six wickets. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored a team-high 117 runs and Anamul Haque chipped in with 77 runs, but the rest of Bangladesh's batsmen struggled to produce against India's bowlers.
On the bowling front, Bangladesh managed to take only four wickets - Rubel Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Ziaur Rahman and Sohag Gazi each accounted for one.
Afghanistan also lost their opening match. Pakistan, the reigning Asia Cup champions, won by 72 runs despite the seven wickets taken by the Afghani bowlers.
On offense, Afghanistan failed to produce. No batsmen for Afghanistan reached the half-century mark; Noor Ali Zadran led the team with 44 runs and Ashgar Stanikzai added 40 runs.
