The choreographer Bryan Tanaka confirmed on December 26 that he had broken up with Mariah Carey after seven years of dating.

The couple's breakup rumors began online last month when Tanaka was nowhere to be found on her 'Merry Christmas One and All!' tour in November and when they stopped posting about each other on social media.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JANUARY 07: Bryan Tanaka (L) and recording artist Mariah Carey attend the 19th Annual Post-Golden Globes Party hosted by Warner Bros. Pictures and InStyle at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 7, 2018 in Beverly Hills, California.

Tanaka posted on his Instagram to confirm his split with Carey. He said, "With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together. Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we've shared."

He added that the memories they had created and the artistic collaborations were forever etched in his heart, including his time spent with her and Nick Cannon's 12-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.

Tanaka expressed his love and appreciation for Carey and praised her dedication to her family and commitment to her craft. He also expressed his gratitude to her incredible children and said that the children's warmth and kindness have enriched his life in ways words cannot capture.

Furthermore, he was grieving their romance but admitted that he was also looking forward to the future. He asked for their fan's understanding, privacy, and respect.

The outpouring of love and support from fans has been a beacon of strength for Tanaka. He was extremely grateful for the encouragement that continued to uplift him, and he eagerly anticipated continuing his journey in dancing as the creative arts would resonate in the unfolding chapters.

Carey still has not released a statement about the breakup. A representative for Carey also refused to respond to a request for comment from the AP.

Instead of commenting about their breakup, Carey has been busy on social media promoting her tour, which ended on December 17.

On Tuesday, the singer posted a message sharing gratitude to her fans that her Christmas hit 'All I Want for Christmas is You' won the Billboard Hot 100 charts for four years in a row. She was also praised for breaking the Spotify record for the most song streams in one day.

Carey posted on Instagram after a few hours of Tanaka's confirmation of their breakup. She said she could not thank her fans enough for making Christmas so celebratory.
