Former British Home Secretary Suella Braverman issued a scathing letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accusing him of betraying his promises and applying a "double standard" to pro-Palestinian supporters.

Braverman said that the prime minister failed to keep his promises regarding immigration and that he failed to rise to the challenge. She argued that this was posed by the increasingly vicious antisemitism and extremism displayed in the streets.

Former British Home Secretary Suella Braverman issued a scathing resignation letter accusing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of failing to keep his promises.

The former home secretary added that she had become hoarse trying to call on Sunak to consider legislation that would ban hate marches and help curb racism, intimidation, and terrorist glorification that is threatening community cohesion.

In her letter, Braverman also said that Sunak had used "wishful thinking" in trying to avoid having to make the hard choices. She outlined several conditions that she said the prime minister agreed to at the time that she acquired the position of home secretary in 2022.

However, she said that these include reducing illegal immigration and empowering parents to know what is being taught to their kids. The supposed agreement included "firm assurances" on cutting legal migration, inserting measures to override the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), and many others, as per Fox News.

The former home secretary argued that the British prime minister had repeatedly betrayed his pledge to stop boats of illegal immigrants from coming into the United Kingdom. He accused Sunak of either having a distinctive style of government that makes him incapable of acting or he had no intention to keep his promises in the first place.

Braverman argued that someone had to be honest about the situation and said that Sunak's plan was not working. She added that they have endured record election defeats and said that the prime minister's resets have failed to address various issues.

The letter comes after Braverman was fired from her position this week following accusations from opponents that she stoked tensions ahead of pro-Palestinian marches in London. In response, she claimed that police had applied a double standard to pro-Palestinan protesters and were not enforcing the law properly.

Failures of the Prime Minister

The former home secretary also spoke about Wednesday's much-anticipated Supreme Court ruling regarding the legality of the government's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda. She argued that Sunak's irresponsibility left the region in an impossible position, according to NDTV.

Braverman said that she does not believe that the pro-Palestine marches in London were a cry for help for Gaza. She noted that the protests were more of an assertion of primacy by certain groups, particularly Islamists.

She warned that if the legislation regarding immigrants being sent to Rwanda did not pass, they would go back to their starting positions. Braverman said that Sunak's "magical thinking" means that he had failed to prepare any sort of credible backup plan.

A spokesman for No 10 thanked Braverman for her service as home secretary but added that Sunak was proud to appoint a strong, united team yesterday. He added that this was focused on delivering for the British people moving forward, said BBC.
