Three new X subscription tiers are expected to arrive soon. These paid subscription plans are believed to be based on the platform's existing Premium plan.

This was revealed by a source who claims he attended the social media company's recent briefing call with debt holders. If you are an X user, here's what you need to know about these new paid tiers.

X Premium Plan Could Be Divided Into Three Tiers

Business Insider reported that Elon Musk is planning to release new paid tiers for his X platform. These are specifically the rumored Premium Basic, Premium Standard, and Premium Plus.

Based on the anonymous source, the price of each tier will depend on the number of ads shown to users. As of writing, the X Premium plan costs $8 per month.

This existing service offers the blue checkmark, as well as provides users early access to new features, and allows them to edit their X posts.

This is not the first time that the tech executive has shown interest in rolling out new paid services. In September, Musk talked with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that the social media company might release a paywall for all its users.

"We are actually going to come up with a lower-tier pricing. We want it to be just a small amount of money," said the billionaire.

Elon added that the reason for this fee is to fight against the rising numbers of bots within his platform. This is criticized by many people, especially critics of Elon Musk.

Now, the three new tiers are also being bashed by some experts, saying that they're just another way for Elon Musk to squeeze every penny he can from the platform's users.

According to Mashable SE Asia's latest report, @aaronp613, a well-known developer and leaker, was able to acquire the X app's iOS update code.

Thanks to his efforts, he was able to identify more details about the rumored tiers of the platform. Here is the information the leaker shared:

  • X Premium Basic: Full Ads
  • X Premium Standard: Half Ads
  • X Premium Plus: No Ads

Unlike those who criticize the three new paid plans, other experts claim that these three tiers could benefit users instead.

This is because dividing the current Premium plan can allow consumers to have more options, and possibly get cheaper prices than the $8 monthly fee.

However, it is important to remember that the details acquired by the tech leaker don't mean that X will really roll out the three new tiers.

It will still depend on Elon Musk if he will release these subscription services or give in to what critics say against him.
