A Kansas doctor made headlines over the weekend after he posted X-rays of dead people on Facebook, the Topeka Capital Journal reported.
Dr. Milton Wolf, who is also a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, posted several X-ray images of gunshot fatalities and medical injuries on his Facebook page. The doctor also made gruesome jokes and described the deadly images in detailed online conversations.
Wolf, a radiologist in Johnson County, joked one gunshot victim was not going to complain about the way his head was posed for the X-ray. The Senate candidate also wrote that another X-ray of a man, who was decapitated by gunfire, looked like an alien from the movie "Terminator," the Topeka Capital Journal reported. Wolf said the picture proves that anyone can "find beauty in different things."
Wolf, however, said in an interview that he only posted the X-rays for educational purposes and to show the world's evil. Wolf also said what he did was not illegal, the Topeka Capital Journal reported.
In an interview with Wolf, the Topeka Capital Journal asked if he continues to post X-rays of the dead on social media. Wolf asked if he could hold on to the copies of his Facebook posts the newspaper showed him. When the newspaper declined, Wolf became upset.
"I'm not going to play these kinds of gotcha games," Wolf told the Topeka Capital Journal.
Other medical professionals slammed Wolf's actions as violating information that is privileged in doctor-to-doctor consultations.
"The dignity and privacy of the individual should be protected," John Carney, president of the Center for Practical Bioethics in Kansas City, Missouri, told the Topeka Capital Journal.
Wolf's actions are "beyond alarming for a professional in the field of medicine," Canary said.
The Facebook page with Wolf's comments has since been removed. Instead, there is now a Facebook page focused on Wolf's Senate campaign.
