As per Marijuana Moment, Connecticut's cannabis market is burning bright as marijuana sales surged to $24 million last month. A new record for the state's cannabis industry.

According to the latest data from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, the sales figures for June reflect a steady upward trajectory since the state launched its recreational cannabis program earlier this year. The growing consumer demand for legalized marijuana and the state's proactive efforts to establish a regulated market undoubtedly fueled the surge in sales.

Both medical and adult-use marijuana sales drove the June sales surge. However, the latter notably surpassed non-recreational use. According to Hartford Courant, adult-use sales reached $12.5 million in June, up from $11.5 million in May. On the other hand, medical marijuana sales also slightly increased to $11.3 million in June. In May, it was only at a cool $11.2 million.

To be more preside, the June preliminary data shows that adult-use sales comprise 313,510 cannabis in total. On the other hand, medical marijuana purchases reached 303,293.

Meanwhile, the data also gave us a glimpse of marijuana pricing in Connecticut. Medical marijuana is a bit cheaper at $37.43, whereas the adult-use counterpart averages $40.

New York joins 14 other US states and the District of Columbia in permitting cannabis after lawmakers in both state chambers, where Cuomo's Democratic Party holds strong majorities, backed the bill on March 30.

As the Associated Press reports, Connecticut kicked off its recreational cannabis sales for adults in early 2023, or on January 10, to be precise. On that day, customers were in a festive mood as dozens of folks waited in line outside various retailers.

In a statement last January, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont says, "Today marks a turning point in the injustices caused by the war on drugs, most notably now that there is a legal alternative to the dangerous, unregulated, underground market for cannabis sales."

Six months have passed since then, and sales are tallying up to a staggering $122 million. Hartford Courant notes that most of the sales are from flower form cannabis at roughly 53 percent. Meanwhile, vape counterparts took around a 25 percent slice of the pie in sales, while edibles are around 10 percent.
