Florida Teacher Arrested After Forcing Student to Clean Clogged-Up Urinal With Bare Hands

A South Florida charter school teacher was arrested this week, after she reportedly ordered a 10-year-old to student to clear out a urinal with his bare hands.

58-year-old Jennifer Forshey is facing battery of a child by exposure to urine charges, the Coral Springs arrest report obtained by NBC read.

Forshey, who insisted that she "did not do anything illegal," was arrested on Wednesday, then discharged from jail on a $1,000 bond.

According to police officers who spoke with NBC, Forshey reportedly blamed a stopped-up urinal on a student who she said used paper towels to clog up the drain. She then forced him to take all of the paper out of the urinal using his hands and another paper towel. Law enforcement officials said the student's palms were covered in "what smelled like urine." They also noted that bathroom soap dispensers were empty.

Forshey said she did, in fact, tell the student to empty the urinal, but did not consider her actions wrong.

The student's identity hasn't been publicized yet.

According to a statement released by the Broward Community Charter School, Forshey had been reprimanded for her actions, NBC reported.

An attorney representing the young boy's family issued an official statement on Thursday.

"The only reason we are bringing this story to the public is to find out if any other child has been treated in this way before," Joshua Hertz told NBC. "We want to protect this child and possibly any other children that may have been subjected to this form of corporal and unmoral punishment. My client wants to find out why a teacher would allow this to happen. She also asks for her and her son's privacy to be respected and wants her son to retain a normal life back at the school."

Mother of the young boy Jenay Roberts said she wouldn't comment on the matter for now.
