Following the defeat of two of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' (R) favored candidates in Tuesday night's elections, former President Donald Trump used the situation on Wednesday to mock his potential 2024 Republican presidential rival.

Kelly Craft, a supporter of DeSantis, lost to one of Donald Trump's preferred candidates, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R), in Kentucky's GOP gubernatorial primary. Cameron took the top spot, while Ryan Quarles, the agriculture commissioner, came in second. Craft came in third place, according to The Hill.

Ron DeSantis' backing for Republican Daniel Davis in Jacksonville's mayoral contest failed as Davis lost to Democrat Donna Deegan.

Donald Trump commented on his Truth Social platform that Cameron "easily won" the Republican nomination for governor because he had the ex-POTUS' "complete and total" support.

Former President Trump blasted Ron DeSantis by calling him "DeSanctimonious" and emphasizing the distant third-place result of his favored candidate. Trump continued by commenting on DeSantis' unexpected defeat in the Jacksonville mayoral election.

The latest political events in Kentucky will be eagerly monitored by experts predicting the 2024 US presidential contest, according to The Guardian. Republicans are the majority in Kentucky, and Democratic Governor Andy Beshear is expected to have a difficult reelection campaign despite his popularity. During his first term, he dealt with the COVID-19 epidemic, natural catastrophes, and a devastating mass shooting.

Trump Says DeSantis Lacks Skills

Donald Trump recently launched a barrage of attacks at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, hitting on everything from personality to policy. He voiced his displeasure that DeSantis was practically running for president but not formally declaring his candidacy.

Trump avoided giving a firm response when asked whether he would support DeSantis as the GOP's presidential candidate in 2024. He said he despises DeSantis' manner of campaigning, as the Florida governor is acting as a candidate but does not adhere to rules because he has not filed, which Trump calls a "total violation."

The ex-POTUS also disclosed that he decided not to get in touch with the Florida governor to inquire about his plans when DeSantis started displaying signs of thinking about running for president. "But if he runs, he runs," said Trump. But he went on to call DeSantis "very disloyal," per Politico.

The Republican leader said that before he endorsed DeSantis for governor in 2018, he was "a dead man walking" and said he would never run against a person who had similarly backed him.

Donald Trump blasted DeSantis further, saying that the latter lacks charisma and "political skill."
