Burger King debuted a new Red Whopper to celebrate the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' theater premiere.
The friendly neighborhood superhero is returning to the big screen in June. But before the premiere of the upcoming animated movie, the giant fast-food chain is releasing a new burger.
Burger King Debuts New Red Whopper with 'Spider-Man' Theme
As per USA Today, the limited-edition burger, which rocks a red bun and black sesame seeds, will be available in stores on May 15 ahead of Spider-Man's much-awaited comeback to the box office on June 2.
The giant fast food joint says that its latest iteration of the Whopper is based on the spidey costume of Miles Morales, which he sports in the upcoming Marvel animated movie. The red Whopper will be in BK stores for over a month, allowing customers to get their hands on it until June 21.
The Chief Marketing Officer at Burger King North America, Pat O'Toole, says the 'Spider-Verse' burger offers multiple variations. He touts, "Burger King fans can discover new and exciting ways to customize the 'Spider-Verse' menu items."
'Spider-Verse Sundae' Hits BK Stores Soon
Besides the burger with the eye-catching red bun, Burger King also introduces a new limited-edition 'Spider-Verse' sundae. Unlike traditional offerings, the soft serve ice cream comes with black and red chocolate toppings, giving it the Miles Morales vibe.
The Daily Meal notes that fast food giants like Burger King and McDonald's typically partner with massive blockbusters to celebrate their run on the big screen. For instance, McDo released a limited edition Happy Meal toy to celebrate the premiere of the record-breaking blockbuster, the 'Super Mario Bros. Movie.'
This time, the renowned fast food chain, Burger King, will promote the upcoming "Spider-Man" animated movie by releasing a new limited-edition Whopper and sundae.
It is worth noting that the fast food juggernaut released an orange-colored Whopper during Halloween 2022. Similar to the 'Spider-Verse' burger, it also comes with black sesame seeds. The bright orange color resembles the iconic jack-o-lantern, representing the spooky season.
Apart from the new menu offerings in time for the debut of the 'Spider-Man' movie, BK also plans to launch 'Spider-Verse' stores. Folks in New York and France could visit the upcoming interactive stores. It will also reach other countries like Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.
Daily Mail reports that Burger King recently disclosed that it plans to shut down hundreds of stores in the US. With the new 'Spider-Man' Whopper, it should not only help promote the upcoming Marvel movie, but fans of the friendly neighborhood superhero might also storm the fast food chain.
