Contestant Christina Grimmie opens "The Voice" Season 6 with a stunning performance of a cover of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball."
A sneak peek into the sixth season of "The Voice" has been released and the promos look more promising than ever. One contestant in particular, Christina Grimmie, has grabbed the attention of many with her cover of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball."
The performance turned all four judge's chairs, three of which turned in the first five seconds of the performance. Rapper Usher was the first to hit the buzzer, followed by Shakira and Adam Levine. Blake Shelton waited till the last ten seconds but couldn't resist hitting the button.
"It's going to get bloody and we're going to fight," Levine said in an attempt to get Grimmie to choose him. "But I'm going to fight harder."
The former Maroon 5 singer thinks that his six years of continuously judging the show gives him an advantage over the other coaches.
"He hasn't had a day off. He's tired! In season four, I might have been hormonal and sleepless, but now I'm rested and focused as laser!" Shakira rebutted.
"This is about your voice. You were phenomenal," Usher gushed. "I plan on winning this entire thing with you," Usher added, hoping that praising the 19-year-old contestant would turn her decision his way.
Shelton maintains his cool self, finally voicing his opinion about why she should choose him as her coach.
"This is about you and what you want to do," he said. "I just want to help you figure out whatever that is and make you the winner of the show."
The video is just a sneak peek into the show, which will air Feb. 24, 2014 and so Grimmie's decision is pending as of now.
The new season also sees original coaches CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera leaving the judging panel. Green revealed his decision to leave the show after four seasons during his recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year," said the Grammy Award winner, according to E!Online. "But yeah, I'm going to miss The Voice, too. I'm not coming back, guys."
Coming back to The Voice, Grimmie is no stranger to the limelight. Her covers of hit songs by artists such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and many more have made her quite a YouTube sensation. She is best known for her cover with fellow YouTuber Sam Tsui of Nelly's "Just a Dream", which has about 76 million views. Her first video was "Don't Wanna Be Torn", originally by Hannah Montana, which she uploaded in 2009. The video garnered a little under 1 million views.
