US President Joe Biden acknowledges that sensitive government records have been leaked, but he downplays their significance by saying he is not aware of "anything contemporaneous... of great consequence."

President Joe Biden made his first-ever public statement about the Pentagon leaks on various social media platforms. US and NATO assistance to Ukraine and US intelligence assessments seem to be discussed in the leaked US government documents, which might strain ties with partners. The Justice Department is looking into the Pentagon leaks, as per AP News.

While meeting with Irish officials in Dublin, President Joe Biden expressed concern about the Pentagon leaks, but he remarked that "nothing contemporaneous that I'm aware of that is of great consequence."

President Biden said the intelligence community and the Department of Justice were conducting a "full-blown" investigation to determine who was responsible for the leak.

There is no definitive information on the exact number of leaked US government documents. The AP has seen around 50 papers, possibly numbering in the hundreds.

What is in The Pentagon Leaks?

US authorities have speculated that at least some of the Pentagon leaks were tampered with or were used in an information blitz, according to The Independent. On Monday, Apr. 10, John Kirby, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, cautioned that people should be careful about the Pentagon leaks as information presented "in some cases" was manipulated.

Allegedly top secret files documenting combat evaluations and updates have been leaked online. Information leaked includes the lack of artillery rounds for Ukrainian troops, the presence of US spy aircraft in the area, and the breadth of US surveillance on its enemies and friends that may have been revealed in the papers.

The briefings in the Pentagon leaks apparently served as a means of updating senior authorities, such as the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on the state of the continuing Russia-Ukraine War that Vladimir Putin initiated in February 2022.

The US Department of Defense has asked the Department of Justice to launch a criminal probe over the Pentagon leaks.
