Apple announced that its first Apple Retail Store in India would open later this April at the BKC in Mumbai. Besides the first Apple Retail Store in the country, the iPhone maker also reveals that the second store is opening its doors to customers this month.

The opening of the two stores is only a few days apart. The announcement comes shortly after the renowned Cupertino-based firm confirmed its plans to open a store in the populous South Asian nation.

Apple's First India Store to Open in Mumbai

As per Tech Crunch, Apple entered the Indian market two decades ago. However, it has not opened its retail store in a populous country. But signs of its arrival in the South Asian country emerged amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The tech behemoth opened its online store in the region last 2020 amidst the global health crisis.

Although Apple initially planned to kick off its first Indian retail store in 2021, the pandemic, which forced lockdowns across the globe and heavily hit India, pushed it to 2023.

Now, the iPhone maker disclosed that its first-ever retail store in the country would welcome its first customers on April 18 at the BKC in Mumbai.

Second Retail Store in India

The tech firm says that "it will open its doors to customers at two new retail locations in India." The news release of the giant phone maker notes that "these new retail locations mark a significant expansion in India." It is worth mentioning that Apple fans have long been waiting for the arrival of its retail stores in the populous country.

As mentioned, the American firm plans to start two retail stores in the country. The second Apple Store in India sits at Saket in Delhi. It is set to open its doors two days after the debut of the first store, or on April 20, to be more exact.

Months before these two new stores opened, Tech Crunch reported that job listings revealed Apple had begun recruiting in India. The positions provide roles in the upcoming retail stores in the country.

According to 9to5 Mac, Apple is offering special wallpapers for iPhone, Mac, and iPad users to celebrate its expansion in the South Asian nation. On top of that, it also created an Apple Music playlist aptly named "Sounds of Mumbai."

It remains to be seen if the tech giant plans to open its third store in the country soon. Apple has yet to announce the location and opening date of its succeeding Indian retail stores.
