As part of an expanding probe, FBI agents searched President Joe Biden's Delaware vacation home for inappropriately stored classified documents.

On Wednesday, the FBI searched the residence of President Joe Biden in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and discovered no classified documents, according to Biden's lawyer.

Bob Bauer, Biden's attorney, reports that the FBI took handwritten notes and other items for further review. The search lasted around three and a half hours.

As with the search of Biden's residence in Wilmington, Delaware, last month, Bauer stated that agents "took for a further investigation several items and handwritten notes that appear to relate to his tenure as vice president."

The probe into the president's handling of sensitive information will continue to plague the White House in the coming weeks and months, as seen by the search of Biden's second Delaware property, which was expected yet serves as further proof.

Biden and his team have constantly stated that he has not committed any illegality in handling sensitive information, and the president reaffirmed last month that there is "nothing there."

Earlier in the morning, Bauer confirmed that detectives were searching the residence, as per CNN. Bauer stated that the search was organized and had Biden's "full approval and participation." Midmorning, reporters stationed in a seaside town witnessed black vehicles approaching the residence.

On January 11, Biden's attorneys investigated his Rehoboth house and discovered no classified documents. The FBI search in Rehoboth is the third documented instance in which federal officials have inspected Biden-affiliated premises for secret information.

According to his attorney, the FBI discovered many items containing secret information during a prior investigation of Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, residence. This query was conducted on January 20.

Biden's attorneys had discovered documents at the Wilmington residence and halted their search of a particular area where more documents were found. It is still determined whether the FBI discovered the documents in the same room or elsewhere in residence.

Mid-November, the FBI also searched the Washington office of the Penn Biden Center after Biden's attorneys uncovered secret information in a locked cupboard at the think tank.

According to those who knew the situation, none of the searches, including Wednesday's in Rehoboth, required a warrant. Biden's staff has emphasized that they are cooperating with the Justice Department as the investigation into the papers continues.

During several months following his vice presidency, none of Biden's Delaware residences had Secret Service security, leaving sensitive documents and unaccompanied guests susceptible to intruders. Biden stated on January 12 that classified documents were discovered in his Wilmington garage next to his vintage Corvette but defended his handling of these documents, according to NY Post.

Hunter Biden, who is under investigation for possible tax fraud and illegal foreign lobbying, among other crimes, by the US attorney's office in Delaware, frequently visited the Wilmington house - and even listed it as his residence on a 2018 form - while records were stored there. He pursued business interests around the world, including in China.

The FBI covertly searched Biden's post-vice presidency office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington in mid-November after Biden's attorneys reportedly discovered secret materials in an abandoned office space on November 2.

The White House suppressed the finding until far after the November 8 midterm elections, during which former President Donald Trump's alleged mismanagement of documents was a prominent issue due to an August 8 FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Biden initially acknowledged the finding of sensitive materials at the Penn Biden Center during a news appearance in Mexico City on January 10 - one day after CBS broke the story. However, he did not reveal in those statements that on December 20, his attorneys reported the discovery of a second cache of secret materials in the Wilmington garage to the Justice Department.

Multiple subsequent searches of Biden's Wilmington residence, including the FBI's visit on January 20, uncovered additional classified materials from Biden's vice presidential and Senate years. The 80-year-old president, who in September called his predecessor's retention of confidential materials at Mar-a-Lago "irresponsible," has lashed out in response to inquiries about the topic.

It is still being determined how many papers have thus far been recovered. CNN stated that around ten classified documents, some marked "top secret," about the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Iran were discovered at the Penn Biden Center. Republicans are demanding more searches, including of the approximately 1,850 boxes containing Biden's Senate documents at the University of Delaware.

During his administration, Biden has spent several weekends at his home in Rehoboth Beach, most recently from January 20 to 23. He opted to travel instead to the presidential retreat at Camp David in Maryland during the past weekend. Per The Telegraph via MSN, there was no statement from the FBI or the Department of Justice. After leaving the office, it is prohibited to remove or keep classified materials intentionally.

According to reports, the National Archives had requested all past presidents and vice presidents of the United States to review their records for classified documents and other presidential materials that should have been given up when they left office.

Hur is anticipated interviewing key former White House officials, possibly including Biden. Jack Smith, a different special counsel, is probing the finding of sensitive materials at Trump's Florida home Mar-a-Lago, which the FBI searched in August.
