A Facebook data analyst and scientist has mapped out the online interactions and habits between two users who are starting a relationship.
Carlos Diuk detailed trends Facebook sees when two people begin dating, according to Business Insider.
Right up until the day your status changes to "In a Relationship," Facebook sees a spike in the number of posts on the two peoples' walls.
"We observe a peak of 1.67 posts per day, 12 days before the relationship begins, and a lowest point of 1.53 posts per day 85 days into the relationship," Diuk wrote. "Prsumably, couples decide to spend more time together, courtship is off, and online interactions give way to more interactions in the physical world."
As the relationship progesses, fewer messages are exchanged between couples. But Diuk said "the content of the interactions gets sweeter and more positive."
Researchers used "statistical methods to automatically analyze a set of aggregated, anonymized timeline interactions," Diuk continued.
Lovers who have been together for a while don't use the Internet as much for communication, but when they do, they usually send positive messages.
Analysts counted the proportion of positive words like "love," "nice," "happy," minus the proportion of words revealing negative feelings like "hate," "hurt," "bad," etc. to graph the relationships' movement.
