Since Cyborg won her first boxing contest, MMA fans are now wondering if her highly anticipated showdown with Cat Zingano will still take place.

Cris Cyborg prevailed in her debut fight in boxing at the Fight Music Show in Cyborg's native Curitiba, Brazil. The famed women's MMA fighter successfully transitioned into boxing and defeated novice Simone Silva by decision after eight rounds.

Early on in the fight, Silva moved about on the outside, but she showed that she was tough and delivered a couple of good blows to her opponent, Yahoo! Sports reported.

Zingano Slams Cyborg For Dodging MMA Title Fight, Drug Test

Cyborg began to recognize additional opportunities after establishing her range and becoming used to her adversary's motion. She did this while evading the counterattacks. Eventually, Cyborg most likely won each round. Although Silva proved that she's a resilient fighter as she took several powerful strikes and even struck back at Cyborg.

After the match, the iconic woman MMA fighter remarked that she was "very happy" with her first boxing match, which she described as a "different" experience. "I know I've got a lot to prove. And I'm very happy," she told ESPN.

Before going back to MMA, Cyborg said to ESPN last week that she was willing to compete in boxing once again. She holds the Bellator women's featherweight title and is presently a free agent. Cyborg, regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, has expressed that she's likely to sign with Bellator again.

Meanwhile, Cat Zingano slammed Cris Cyborg for the latter's explanation of why their highly anticipated fight for the Bellator championship has not happened since the former's debut two years ago. There are several justifications for why the match has not happened. MMA Junkie reported that Cyborg claimed that Bellator told her "next up is Cat Zingano, the promotion keeps on changing her opponent like Zingano has been dodging from the fight.

"So she always say I want to fight one more fight, one more fight next and then never ready," Cyborg said. Zingano told MMA Junkie in June that she "never" got an offer to fight Cyborg, but she is ready to make it happen under the condition of requiring a drug test before the two fighters meet in the ring.

Moreover, Zingano thinks Cyborg's recent remarks show that the reigning champ is still not eager to defend the title against her and accused Cyborg of avoiding drug testing.

Cyborg Boxing Debut: Is It a Pro or Exhibition Match?

Going back to Cyborg's boxing debut, there were debates regarding whether the bout would be recognized as professional or exhibition. Due to a knockout loss in a boxing battle last month, Silva is presently subject to a medical suspension by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

The TDLR informed ESPN that it would not waive the required suspension although it was a knockout via body shot. Since the ban resulted from Silva's defeat by knockout, Tela Goodwin Mange, the TDLR's public relations officer, indicated that Silva could not be "cleared early."

He explained that the "medical suspensions exist for a reason" as the department prioritizes the safety of the boxers. BoxRec, one of the official boxing record-keepers globally, noted that the Cyborg-Silva match was not licensed, according to Organizacao Brasileira de Boxe (OBBoxe) officials stated the Cyborg-Silva match was unlicensed. Hence, it would not be acknowledged as a professional boxing match.
