Royal Family Assembles at Balmoral

Prince Charles and Camilla are with The Queen at Balmoral Castle, Her Majesty's summer retreat, while Prince William, the oldest son of Charles, is on his way.

This year, Elizabeth celebrated seven decades as monarch. In recent months, Elizabeth has increasingly delegated tasks to Charles and other royal family members due to her mobility issues.

Truss posted on Twitter: "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."

At its meeting on Wednesday, the Privy Council, the monarch's top advisers, was scheduled to formally swear in Truss and her new Cabinet members. The assembly will take place at a later time.

Senior members of the Royal Family will soon be joined by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Balmoral, where physicians are monitoring the Queen due to their concerns.

Prince Harry and Meghan, who are on a short European vacation, will go to Scotland, their spokesperson said, per The Telegraph.

Historic Reign

According to Fox News, Queen Elizabeth II surpassed the rule of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, in 2015 and has since continued to exceed that mark. She has now governed for 70 years, making her the second-longest reigning monarch in history, after only French King Louis XIV's 72-year reign.

When her father, King George VI, passed away in 1952, she ascended to the throne at the age of 25.
