Kevin Durant Trade Deal Seems Won't Be Happening Soon; Here's Why

The basketball icon is expected to be seen in the upcoming Brooklyn Nets' training camp per reports.

The Kevin Durant trade rumors have been going on for more than a month. Even though there are undoubtedly ongoing negotiations, it does not seem that a deal will happen in the next few days.

Sports journalist Ian Begley claims there is "a lot" of skepticism" over the chances of a Kevin Durant trade occurring very soon.

Begley also points out that the Brooklyn Nets have had difficulty finding a third or fourth team to enable such a trade, although they have not yet been able to come up with a proposal that is worthy of KD.

The Nets have been hoping Durant would eventually cancel his request to be traded. But for now, there is no proof to support that, per CBS Sports.

The Nets have enough time to search for better trade proposals with less than two months until the beginning of training camp, or they may wait for league-wide events to shift sufficiently to motivate a new bidder.

However, it seems like the Nets and Durant are currently in a state of limbo. The most recent significant development on this front was the disclosure that the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets had negotiated a deal built around Jaylen Brown, which was reported weeks ago.

Should Fans Expect a Brooklyn Nets Big 3?

But as time passes, it seems more likely that Durant will at least enter training camp with the Nets. Perhaps something will happen by the deadline. Teams, though, have not pushed with proposals that the Nets consider worthy of the Kevin Durant trade.

Though, if the Brooklyn Nets could just get the trio of Irving, KD, and Ben Simmons to work together in harmony, they would be in a phenomenal position roster-wise. Re-signing Patty Mills and bringing in T.J. Warren and Royce O'Neal established that the team is not aiming to lose in the upcoming NBA season.

But Fansided reported that Brooklyn is too unstable for Kevin Durant to want to stay there for the remainder of his prime years. Irving will become a free agent in a year, and Durant does not seem to have high respect for Simmons.

It could be impossible for the ship to correct itself again over in Brooklyn due to the rift's extreme divergence. If a Simmons swap won't be possible, a KD trade must transpire to avoid further complications.

Jayson Tatum Trusts the Celtics' Judgment

Meanwhile, superstar forward Jayson Tatum is not worried about decisions off the court as the Boston Celtics try to pursue Kevin Durant.

When asked about any prospective trades, Tatum, who shared a gold medal with Durant at the 2020 Summer Olympics, pointed to Brad Stevens, the team's former longtime head coach who was elected president of basketball operations in 2021.

In an interview with The Athletic, Tatum said the good part about his job is Brad does not tell him how to do his job anymore.

"He lets me do my thing. I let him do his thing. In all honesty, that's his decision and that's his job."

Last month, Tatum declined to comment on the report but seized the chance to express his passion for the Celtics.

Tatum said Durant is a "great player" and he loves his current teammates. But it was not clear to him whether the trade talks were true or not per Fox Sports.

"I love our team. Like I said, I just go out there and play with our teammates. I don't put that hat on to make decisions," he said.
