New York Snow Storm Update: Icy Conditions to Continue Through Tonight

The winter storm warning issued Wednesday for New York State continues Thursday, with powdery, icy conditions forecasted through the evening.

Southern Westchester, Bronx, northern and southern Queens, Hudson, Richmond and Kings, N.Y. will be hit with heavy snow - between 10 and 16 inches of it. Traces of ice will make sidewalks and roadways slippery, according to Weather.com.

The north and western regions of the state will receive the most snow.

Heavy winds will be moving north at up to 45 mph, with temperatures in the low 30s.

Abundant snow will turn to freezing rain, then rain in the afternoon. Snow will resume falling by nightfall, and is expected to lighten by midnight.

Commuters should expect freezing rain and rain, with reduced visibility to one quarter mile or less on Thursday evening. The road will most likely have cleared from this morning's snowy conditions, but there will still be lots of slushy ice to drive through.

Meanwhile, some Northeast states are also experiencing heavy snow, high winds and biting weather.

Some areas of Downtown Baltimore and the District of Columbia were hit with at least six inches of snow last night and this morning, Weather.com reported. Freezing rain and rain, along with windy conditions, struck Philadelphia, Penn. this morning. It's currently 33 and snowing in Trenton, N.J.
