LeBron James defends fellow Lakers superstar Anthony Davis from the bashing after his lackluster performance in the 2021-2022 season of the NBA.

This season, Davis struggled with injuries that confined him to only 40 games. Despite that, "The King" LeBron James still believes that he is still among the top players in the league, and the superstar center/forward will prove it come next season, per Lakers Daily.

LeBron posted a clip of AD's highlights on Instagram with the caption: "Get It Twisted if you want to! I'm due time he'll remind you once again why he's HIM!!! And I can't wait for it to be unleashed!"

Davis, 29, appeared on a video with Nuke Squad, a gaming YouTube channel, in which they played a game of "PIG." The Los Angeles Lakers big man won the contest and then proceeded to play video games with the squad. He stated that he hasn't shot a basketball "since maybe April 5."

Davis Has a Typical Off-Season Routine

Following a video of Anthony Davis claiming he hasn't shot a basketball since April 5, the video went viral, but fans should know that this is just his typical off-season routine. Lakers big man Anthony Davis caused quite a fuss over the weekend, with many Lakers fans outraged after stating that he hadn't shot a basketball in a long time, according to a report from News Observer.

After a terrible season in which he missed more games than he played, people were upset to see Davis not practicing in the gym.

Davis once stated that he takes four weeks off before beginning a six-week weight-training program during his off-season. He said that "basketball stuff" doesn't start until six weeks before training camp and that the Lakers' season finished two months ago, per Marca.

AD averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game during the 2021-22 season, shooting 53.2 percent from the field and 18.6 percent from the three-point area.

Last season, Davis' shooting took a step back, as he wasn't nearly as efficient outside the arc as he was when the Lakers won the NBA championship in 2019-20. Davis shot 33.0 percent from 3-point shooting throughout that season.

Because Davis and James were both injured during the 2021-22 season, the Lakers missed the playoffs, but it appears that James is poised for a retribution campaign in the NBA next season.

'Lethal Shooter' Helps AD

After the backlash, Davis exhibited his desire to improve his shooting. USA Today Sports reported that Chris Matthews, a.k.a. "Lethal Shooter," one of the best shooting trainers around, posted on social media that he had a recent shooting workout with the Lakers superstar-- and the future seems promising.

"Great workout today getting my brother Anthony Davis ready for next season. It's been over a year and a half since we locked in! God is truly good to help others master The Art of Shooting. BROTHER 4 LIFE! -Stay locked in!"

Davis is definitely one of the finest players in the game, and the Lakers forward's resume speaks for itself. Davis has made four All-NBA teams in his career and is an eight-time All-Star.

But due to the injuries sustained by Davis and James, Los Angeles has not been able to realize its full potential in the last two seasons.

Before Davis' controversial remarks, LeBron James revealed last year that he hadn't touched a basketball in months. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo also admitted that they were unable to shoot for months due to a lack of access to basketball courts.
