According to a statement from the artist's publicist, award-winning country music vocalist Jeff Carson died at the age of 58.

The singer, whose true name was Jeffrey Lee Herndon, died of a heart attack at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee, as stated in the statement.

Who is Jeff Carson?

Carson was most recognized for his hit singles 'Yeah Buddy,' 'Not on Your Love,' and 'The Car,' He won his first Academy of Country Music Video of the Year award for these songs.

Jeff Carson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began his musical career singing in church at a young age. He joined a band in Rogers, Arkansas, and then moved to Missouri, where he performed locally before going to Nashville and starting to record demos.

The singer signed a recording contract with Curb Records in 1995 and launched his single "Yeah Buddy" to radio shortly after. Carson left the music industry in 2009 to join the Franklin Police Department in Williamson County, Tennessee, where he served until his death, according to the press release.

The country singer just signed with Encore Music Group and was working on a special album that was set to be released later this year. According to the announcement, Carson is survived by his wife Kim Cooper Carson and son Dayton Grei Herndon Carson, as per CNN.

The late singer later relocated to Branson, Missouri, in order to hone his songwriting skills before relocating to Nashville in quest of a musical career. According to Deadline, he's worked on demos for Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, and a slew of other artists.

Carson earned a deal with Curb Records in 1995, and his debut song, Yeah Buddy, was released the following year. Not on Your Love, his second song was released the same year and quickly rose to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs list.

Both singles were included on the late performer's self-titled debut album, released in May. Carson went on to win an Academy of Country Music Award for Best Video for his song The Car, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1997 and 2001, the singer-songwriter released two further albums, Butterfly Kisses, and Real Life, respectively. The musician had fourteen songs hit various ranks on the Hot Country Songs Chart throughout his musical career.

Over the years, the late artist stayed active as a performer, posting images and videos of his shows on his Instagram account. In 2019, the songwriter made a brief return to the music industry with the release of God Save The World, a previously recorded song.

Carson had also secured a deal with Encore Music Group and was working on an album with Michael Ray and Darryl Worley, which would contain duets. The late performer's most recent effort was due out later this year. On Sunday, the Franklin Police Department posted a statement on its official Twitter account to commemorate the singer's death, according to Daily Mail.
