Apple is reportedly working on its own content delivery network (CDN), which will give its customers huge amounts of apps, software updates straight from the source.
According to a report from Tech Spot, the Cupertino-based tech powerhouse is currently working to adjust the way it gives content for its various gadgets. Currently, Apple doesn't have any autonomy over the manner in which users receive their digital content like applications and updates. Instead, CDN companies do the job for them.
Now, it appears the company is in the midst of creating a way to build a large-scale network that will cut out the middle man.
Frost & Sullivan analyst Dan Rayburn wrote in a recent report that Apple hasn't released much information on the new movements, but has taken on many new members of staff who can create the sharing networks.
For now, Apple will continue working with digital service companies Akami and Level 3 to deliver content to users. But the tech giant is reportedly moving toward in-house information delivery quickly, because it will give them more security and control over distribution, and will aid the corporation's spread into television.
Microsoft, Google and others have already internalized their content delivery.
Apple declined to comment, Tech Spot reported.
