Jamie Casino's two minute ad featured during the first commercial break on local television in Savannah, Georgia, has gone viral, probably due to the fact it's a personal injury lawyer dramatically surrounded by fire while he swings a sledgehammer to some heavy metal.
According to the ad, Casino is a personal injury lawyer who used to be a self-professed scumbag who defended cold-hearted criminals, until his brother was murdered in 2012 during a series of homicides in Savannah, which he claims was brushed aside by authority officials.
"I wasn't always a personal injury lawyer, I once was a notorious criminal defense lawyer who was employed by some of the most cold-hearted villains," Casino says in the commercial. The dramatic story continues: Casino then explains his brother Michael was gunned down with some friends, and how Savannah's Chief of Police Willie Lovett lied to citizens about the murders.
The content of the ad made it go viral almost instantly after being aired, according to the Savannah Morning News. In a matter of hours, viewers jumped from 8,000 to more than 250,000 gaining attention from news websites and blogs.
The ad took the entire first commercial break, and even though it was only aired locally, Casino is expected to have dropped a huge amount of cash for it.
Les Vann is the general manager at the local news station, WTGS, and said though the cost of the ad couldn't be given, Casino's ad was confirmed as the "biggest ad purchases in the station's history," according to the Savannah Morning News.
"I will tell you it's the first time I've ever had a two-minute spot in any game, let alone the Super Bowl," Vann told the Morning News through email. Vann added that only a small amount of commercial blocks are open to local stations, which is usually taken up by the network itself. This year, the rate for a 30-second slot cost about $4 million.
