Michigan Car Crash Leaves Four Dead, Five Wounded After SUV Spins Out of Control in Casnovia Township

A grisly car crash in western Michigan left four people dead and five more injured, according to authorities who spoke with the Associated Press.

Muskegon County Sheriff's Office representatives stated six women were riding in the sport-utility vehicle, which was driving through Casnovia Township at about 6 a.m. on Friday. The car spun out of control on an icy roadway and crashed into a pickup truck, killing four passengers.

Two of the others in the SUV were injured, in addition to three men in the pickup.

It's not clear whether the wounded were in critical condition or not, AP reported.

According to Sheriff Dean Roesler, who spoke with reporters early Friday afternoon, the women in the SUV were on their way to Kent County, where they had work lined up. The men riding in the pickup were reportedly on their way to a paint contracting job.

The accident occurred almost 20 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, AP reported.

A nurse in the vicinity, along with a Grand Rapids police officer, reportedly stopped and gave emergency attention to the wounded while law enforcement officials made their way to the scene.

The duo left without identifying themselves.

The deceased and the wounded also have not yet been identified.
