Bruno Mars' Super Bowl performance was energetic, lively and flawless. There was some doubt about whether Mars could hold the audience's attention but he proved skeptics wrong. The 28-year-old crooner opened the show with a children's choir singing his hit song "Billionaire."

Mars, dressed in a custom-made gold jacket and black pants paired with a skinny tie from Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, then dove into a killer drum solo before transitioning into his upbeat song "Locked Out of Heaven."

Mars danced across the stage and effortlessly belted out the lyrics to "Treasure" and then "Runaway Baby." The entire time it was hard to take your eyes off him. The Red Hot Chili Peppers joined Mars onstage singing their "Give It Away."

Following the rock 'n roll performance, Mars switched tones, slowed things down and closed the show with "Just the Way You Are."

"There were a lot of doubters and my man delivered," Fox commentator Howie Long said after the performance ended.

After such an amazing performance, everyone was in high spirits. Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis told the Washington Post that although it wasn't too cold game day, rehearsals were brutal but they all made the best of it.

"It could have been snowing, sleeting, raining. It would have been nice tonight, but rehearsals were a bit nippy," he told the newspaper. "We did score touchdowns during rehearsals before they kicked us off the field, which was like a dream come true. [Our drummer} Chad Smith threw me a touchdown pass - one of the greatest feelings of my life."

He said he also loved working with Mars.

"Bruno Mars is a complete and utter gentleman. I gained a ton of respect. He was awesome, intelligent [and] kind" Kiedis said.

"Bruno is a very nice man and his band[mates] are a bunch of sweethearts and it was very nice to work with all of them," Flea added.

A large majority of social media users also thought the performance was excellent tweeting:

"Still not crazy about his songs, but damn that Bruno Mars fella is a talented dude," one Twitter user wrote.

"Honestly, I think Bruno Mars was biggest winner last night #SuperBowl," another user posted.

"Lets all stop and revisit how damn amazing @BrunoMars half time show was. Incredible. Give him the respect he earned and deserve," another wrote.
