After closing in on a 12-year marriage, country crooner Jason Aldean and his wife call it quits. Aldean has filed for divorced amidst rumors that his marriage to Jessica Ussery was on the rocks.
According to Us Weekly, the country singer was spotted kissing Brittany Kerr, "American Idol" alum. Aldean cited "irreconcilable differences" in court papers filed on April 26.
"This is a really tough time for my entire family," said the 36-year old singer. "I've learned that everyone always rushes to judgment when they hear news like this. That's really hard because no one knows anything about our relationship but us.
"I understand that because of my job, I have to go through a lot of this in the public eye, but for my girls' sake I really wish people would give us some level of privacy and at the very least be respectful of them," he said.
The father of two daughters, 10-year old Keeley and five-year old Kendyl, expressed that the mother of his children will always hold a place in his heart, according to Contact Music.
"Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew up together as a couple," Aldean said. "She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our No. 1 priority."
Last October, Aldean was spotted smooching Kerr on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. The "American Idol" turned NBA cheerleader shut down her Twitter account due to being harassed by disgruntled fans, according to the LA Times.
Kerr released an apology sent to TMZ regarding her indiscretion, calling it a "lapse in judgment."
