Women out there who are thinking about having an affair, be warned: a website, ShesAHomeWrecker.com, is putting women who break up marriages to shame all over the Internet.
"It's hurtful," said Lorena Velasco, who admits to having an affair with a married man she met at work. "It's very hurtful."
Velasco came across a story about her on the website, complete with pictures from her Facebook page, CBS Sacramento reported Monday
Close to 200 women in California have come across profiles of themselves on ShesAHomeWrecker.com. The website enables women who were cheated on to get revenge by posting stories about the other "homewrecker."
Velasco would not say she is a homewrecker. The man she had an affair with told her he was separated from his wife. In an interview with CBS Sacramento, Velasco recounts what the website said about her.
" 'I've included pictures of the whore, who knew she was married,' " Velasco said. "I guess she was so scorned that she felt the need to Facebook-stalk me, steal my pictures and say these things about me."
The website's owner, who used the name Ariella Alexander, told CBS Sacramento she wanted to give women who have been scorned the chance to speak their minds and prevent other women from cheating with married men.
"Hold up. I don't want to involve myself with someone else's husband. I don't want to end up on shesahomewrecker.com," Alexander, 36, told CBS Sacramento.
Alexander, who was cheated on in the past, said she has been accused of slut-shaming. Alexander disagrees- women who steal men should know better.
"Yes, it's a man's fault. But I expect more from a woman," Alexander told CBS Sacramento. "I think women should respect other women."
If someone posts a story that is untrue, Alexander is not liable. According to Provision 230 of the Communication Decency Act, a website owner is not responsible for what an outside user submits, Uproxx reported. Alexander just provides a space for the stories to go.
"Once you sleep with a married man, that's it. You're a homewrecker," Alexander told CBS Sacramento. "Anything after that, if the wife wants to call you a slut, if she wants to call you a whore, she wants to call you a trollop, call you whatever she wants to call you, that's her opinion based on the events of the affair."
